Our values
We believe in happiness. And we think that happiness stands on five pillars.
I. Development
The first pillar of happiness is development - development as a way of thinking. We know that everything is constantly changing: people, organizations, companies, nature, human relationships, skills, creativity, and love - and to keep up with all these changes, you have to change and grow yourself - as people, colleagues, team, partner and as a company.
II. Time
The second pillar of happiness is inspired by the ancient Greek conception of time. The Greeks have two words for time: Chronos and Kairos. Chronos is countable time - hours, minutes, and seconds. Kairos, however, is something else. Kairos refers to time as a substantive concept that measures moments. This word represents those important moments when something changes, moments when you feel that time seems to stop. Being in that moment, being present, feeling, listening - this is what we really value!
III. Small things give birth to big things
The third pillar also takes us back to ancient Greece. It is important for us to be part of something bigger and to support globally important goals. Aristotle called it eudaimonia - a feeling where meaning and happiness merge into one. It is important to understand that we can all contribute in one small way or another to making the world a better place. Together with our team, we are determined to support the UN vision for achieving sustainable development goals.
IV. Joy
We want to put our hearts into everything we do. We are committed and very thorough. But at the same time, in addition to all our diligence, we consider it important that sincere joy and pleasure is present in every activity! Unfortunately, we see all around us too often that adults tend to forget to smile, laugh, hide their sincere and bright emotions, and their own personalities. All this should be brought back to everyday life: great goals can be achieved even in a sunny disposition!
V. The power of relationships
And finally, we believe that cordiality, caring togetherness, and sincere communication are what can move the world forward!
History
Agapics grew out of Paletti that began in 1922 when only 16-year-old E.J. Laakso started selling postcards door-to-door as the sole breadwinner of the family. Over time, he was able to set aside enough money to open his first small shop in Hämeenlinna, Finland, where various cards and posters could be found on the counters.
From an early age, Erkki Johannes Laakso realized that the greatest value is created by visually beautiful products that people relate to emotionally. Putting all his soul and heart into the development of Paletti, he began collaborating with Finnish and Swedish artists and learned from the best in the field from all over Europe. The company began to expand strongly. Laakso passed on his knowledge and love for Paletti to the next generations.
Thus, years later, Paletti Estonia (now Agapics AS), established in 1991 as a subsidiary of the Finnish Paletti Group, also succeeded - a suitcase full of postcards brought from across the sea turned out to be extremely successful. In 1993, the company expanded to Latvia and Lithuania (today Agapics SIA, Agapics UAB). Today, four generations later, the company offers anniversary and greeting cards, gift wrapping products, party supplies, stickers and stationery, and a lot more.
At the beginning of 2020, Paletti's brand in the Baltics changed, and Agapics became a new brand name. During the brand renewal, the company received a new name and face, but we will not forget its development story. The name Agapics conveys the core values of a company founded almost a hundred years ago, which are love, caring, and telling and sharing stories. In the name, you can see a word game that combines a Greek word for love with a word for a picture.
Today, Agapics is ready to continue as a new, fresh, and inquisitive being, to expand its product portfolio and move in new directions.
Questions and answers
What does the new name Agapics mean?
The name Agapics combines the elements that we, as a company, value the most: caring, love, telling, and sharing stories, nature, history, and art.
What does the new logo mean? What does it symbolize?
Like the name, the logo is inspired by the values that are important to us: goodness, love, peace, joy, and closeness to nature.
The logo contains references to the myth of Ancient Greece about a young couple whose love for each other was so great and moving that the ancient gods wanted to see them keep living together and gave them new life as kingfishers.
What will happen to the existing cooperation agreements?
The newly established company is the legal successor of Paletti Estonia, and all agreements automatically continue under the same conditions.
Will my contact person as a company representative be the same person as before?
Yes, nothing changes in the organization of work.
What happens next?
Nothing changes in the way the company operates. Only the brand's external identity and name have changed.
How does the transition to the new name take place in the web/shops/marketing materials?
The transition to the Agapics brand will be gradual. The name will change in the web and marketing materials in January 2020. In the case of products, the transition to a new brand name takes place over a longer period of time:
- Products with the Paletti name and logo will no longer be produced from April 2019 and will be sold in stores until the stock runs out.
- From 2020, all materials and products will be produced with the Agapics name and logo.
- Products with two different brand names can be found in store shelves until the Paletti brand goods are sold out.
Was Paletti bought by another company?
For business reasons, we had to abandon our Finnish branch and, at the same time, divest the Paletti brand name. In the Baltics, we will continue under the name Agapics.
What is the new legal name of the company?
Agapics AS
